Having been remixed by Rio Padice and featured on Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium's compilation "Selected: Compiled By Fred P", We Are MAM deliver an absolute killer of an EP for Legendary Sound Research! Scortching chords, deep basslines and thick drums rarely merge together in such a fresh package!

Do you remember when house was all pure honest vibes? The vibes are back with We Are MAM! The soundscapes of "Rising Sun" and "Free Love" exhale warm joy. "Happy Landings" is a straight up banger, while "The Right Way" goes a more introspective path.

These tracks will vibrate deep inside your soul!

"Rising Sun" Official Video

Junodownload Review

We Are Mam is the slightly odd alias of Roots Underground founder Marco Careli, a producer who seemingly spends all day crafting terrace-friendly tracks in the Tuscan sunshine. At least, that's what this EP for Legendary Sound Research suggests. All four tracks are warm, atmospheric and moody, with plenty of subtle references to classic deep house, forgotten Italian house anthems and old Burrell Brothers productions. The two deeper tracks - the sublime "Free Love" and deliciously stripped back "The Right Way" - are arguably the EP's true highlights, though the piano-laden thumper "Happy Landings" arguably has the most dancefloor potential.

Selected feedback

Matt Tolfrey "The Right Way is the one."

Mike W. (Kolour LTD) "Cool deep rhythms with a bit of a vintage twist. Nice one boys!"

Nhan Solo "Knee deep shit, thanks!"

Leri Ahel (Mutant Disco) "Another solid LSR release. Love 'Free Love'."

Jim Brown (Crazy P) "Shit hot dance floor balaeria. Cheers!"

Also receving love from Skatebård, Rahaan, Life Recorder, Psychemagik, Iron Curtis, Ashley Beedle, Craig Smith and many others!

We prepared a 3 year anniversary version of the vinyl only release The Legendary 1979 Orchestra - Didn't Invent The Remix. Each copy of the release features on its outer sleeve a full size acrylic painting by Ariadna V. entitled "Sound". The painting is an abstract representation of sound: white noise, vibrations, frequencies and textures. Each copy of the painting is a unique representation, just as each analog copy of a musical piece has its own specifics. The sleeve also features an anniversary hand-stamp and is numbered. The edition is limited to 99 copies.

The music on the record consists of three vinyl only remixes from The Legendary 1979 Orchestra, including his lush version of Odyssey's "Inside Out", alongside his most acclaimed remix to date, the L'Equipe Du Son - "Lesson 1" remix.

Disco Bucuresti is an audio homage to Romania's capital, Bucharest. Growing up between the city's communist blocks of flats and maturing in the city's underground discos left a distinct creative mark on Andrei Idu (The Legendary 1979 Orchestra). Ever since leaving Bucharest for Amsterdam, Andrei felt the need to tribute the place that shaped him. However, it was only until recently that he found the means necessary to express the feelings he felt. Thus, records released during the 70s and 80s in Romania as sole sample source, analog drum machines, delays, filters and reverbs, all recorded in live takes come together in this evocative EP.

"Spirala" Official Video

Junodownload Review

Romanian born, Holland-dwelling Andrei Idu (aka (Legendary 1979 Orchestra) is a man on a mission -to perfectly fuse raw, proper, house with vintage disco sentiments. He's just been getting better and at it too and here we get four new sizzlers that perfectly straddle that line. "Tema Plan" features plenty of boogie piano riffs and trippy 303s, "Raza De Soare" is glowing clap along Afro-disco, "Spirals" descends into deep flute laden house territory and things end on a particularly touchy feely note with the percussive seduction of "Presiune".

Selected feedback

Sasse Lindblad - "This is my highlight of the month, sick record. Love it!"

Danny Daze - "Tema pian ...... right in the middle of the night is gonna blow the place up!"

Tom Findlay (Groove Armada) - "Really love this, wonderful stuff."

Blending classic deep house vibes with intricate grooves in a stylish manner, Selvy's music moves mind, body and soul! Like the title says: this EP - you "Gotta Have It"!

Gotta Have It - emotional strings, distant soulful vocals, elegant piano hits and a funky bass line on top of a crunchy disco drum rhythm.

It's So Easy - rolling sample manipulations over four to the floor beat.

My Soul - deep chord melody and thick bass line complemented by impassioned female vocal.

Untitled - percussive journey along the sound of jazz piano samples, a moody vocal and thick bass line.

"Gotta Have It" Official Video

Junodownload Review

In recent times, Legendary Sound Research have impressed with the quality of their deep house releases (having initially dabbled in nu-disco). This debut EP from Polish producer Selvy is another cracker. Title track "Gotta Have It" is particularly special, featuring both a superb retro-futurist groove (think bongo-laden disco beats and warm analogue bass) and some deliciously melancholic musical touches (a heart-aching vocal sample and some tear-jerking strings). There's plenty to get excited about elsewhere on the EP, too, from the smooth, soul-flecked bump of "My Soul", to the jazz-and-soul tinged looseness of the brilliantly percussive "Untitled". Seriously impressive stuff, all told.

Selected feedback

Till von Sein - "L O V E Gotta Have It. Perfect vibe. Snap, the whole EP is butter!"

Justin Miller (HaveAKillerTime) - "My Soul on this one all the way. a definite addition to my set."

Jim Baron (Crazy P) - "Strong disco vibes throughout, like it. Cheers!"

Moon Boots - "Groovy ep! First two tunes are great"

OOFT! - "Summer is coming! Very vibe-y EP, I dig :)"

Press release

Black L3G0 is the new alias of talented up and coming Budapest producer, Gnork. His previous releases on Blind Jack's Journey are fetching for top euro/pound/dollar on discogs right now! He has also released a great EP on the ultra-cool Bokhari label (incl. a Vakula remix). We’ve had our eye out for him since day one and, thankfully, we managed to compile four great tracks of his on our forthcoming release!

"Wave" combines playful percussion with moody piano riffs and a distant vocal, all building a melancholic but groovy melody. "Everything" takes it a notch deeper with syncopated vocal cuts over a pitch shifting minor 7th chord sample. A big piano groove carries "YEAH" with a feeling of joy through different movements, there might actually be just enough cowbell in the track too! The EP closes with "Crying" featuring Carrol. Organ samples are again masterfully manipulated and blended with jazz bass and percussion accents in an ongoing dialog with the vocals "what you crying for?".

Legendary Sound Research is extremely happy to be able to bring such emotion and feeling through Black L3G0's music! Definitely one of the next big names in underground dance music!

It will soon be that time of the year again when you’re in an indoor club and the dance floor is packed and everyone is hot and sweaty and eager to hear another sleazy, hot, no-nonsense House track bang through those white tweeters of the Funktion One sound system. We here at Legendary Sound Research have been looking for the perfect sound that would suit precisely such an occasion. Our research brought us in front of Richmed and Antonio Corto’s wild productions. The two hail from Mexico and it seems that the heat they experience there, especially in the desert areas, made the duo compose some of the hottest house music we’ve heard in a long time. The beats have an edge, the chords are not trying too hard, the composition is perfectly crafted to hit all the right spots.

So, when that crowd is thirsty for more heat, pull out this record, drop one of the tracks and watch everyone go wild!

Junodownload review

The seemingly unstoppable rise of Mexican electronic music continues, with a decidedly up-for-it EP by rising talents Richmed and Antonio Corto. All four tracks here bristle with wide-eyed positivity, sitting somewhere between the dayglo rush of Hot Creations, the key-brandishing cheeriness of Futureboogie, and the booming groovery of Hypercolour. There's a blast of smile-inducing piano house in the shape of "Listen", a dash of stab-heavy deep house rave ("Undress") and a rising-and-falling hands-in-the-air stomper ("Hit Back"). Best of all, though, is the sumptuously tactile "Ain't Nobody", a wonderfully deep and emotive chunk of Balearic house bliss.

"Spring Fever" official video

Junodownload review

The Legendary Sound Orchestra continues his attempt to provide disco edit lovers with something extraordinary, with a third collection of hand picked reworks. Predictably, there's plenty to enjoy, from his own sparse, piano-heavy version of Silvetti's Salsoul classic "Spring Rain", to the rolling, bongo-laden goodness of 78 Edits' sprightly but loopy "Don't You Know". Highlights-wise, it's a toss-up between Alkalino's baggy disco-soul shuffler, "Have A Ball", and Jimmy The Twin's superb, TR-707-enhanced "Party Down". The latter, a horn-heavy chunk of upbeat disco-funk, is arguably the Bristol-based scalpel fiend's best work to date.

Junodownload review

Operating out of Tallin, Estonia, Andreas Kask is a young, up-and-coming producer with a passion for toasty deep house. This debut EP for Legendary Sound Research offers a decent glimpse of his obvious potential. Opener "Keeping Up With You" is deep, rolling and melodic, with some neat - and unusual - vocal samples complimenting his hip-wigglin' groove. "Hit Me Up" blends contemporary British "deep house" (think Hypercolour and Tsuba) with classic UKG influences, while "How Do You Feel" is an exercise in rave nostalgia with added "Nightmare" stabs. As for "Flying High", it rises, falls and wobbles in all the right places.

Junodownload review

It's fair to say that Legendary Sound Research has been on decent form of late. This double-header, featuring new cuts from The St Petersburg Disco Spin Club and label bosses The Legendary 1979 Orchestra, is another belter. The former steps up first, offering a chunk of sparse but attractive piano house revivalism in the shape of "Night Driving". JKriv remixes, thickening up the groove, making more of the relentless pianos and adding a few decidedly Balearic touches. The Legendary 1979 Orchestra go even further into Balearic territory on their sparkling, sun-flecked "Love Triangle Theme" (all loose grooves, darting synths and gorgeous pianos), while Manc deviant Ruf Dug provides the EP's highlight with his dubby, intoxicating, proto-house inspired rework.

Press Release

Starting off the record is the infectious dance-floor filler remix of Odyssey's "Inside Out". The remix was done for the 2011 DJ History Odyssey remix competition. Having received enormous feedback and support, it was about time it saw an official release! The track builds the feel-good instrumental to a vocal chorus driven hands-in-the-air climax. It has been a sure shot secret weapon of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's DJ sets until now. The second track on the A-side is The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's most successful remix to date. His version of L'Equipe du Son's "Lesson 1" is a warm synth driven piece of the highest quality 80's inspired disco. The percussion and strings fill the track with sentiment. It's been witnessed to melt girls on the dance-floor and make grown men shed tears.

The B-side of the record is reserved for the deeper dubs. First off is an unreleased version of Emeron & Fox's "Dopecity". The Legendary 1979 Orchestra takes the original as inspiration and goes deep with it. "Dopecity Deep Dub" is a journey into emotions and euphoria that would fit wonderfully in those late morning deep house sets. Finishing off the record is a Bonus Beats version of Saint Petersburg Disco Spin Club's "Marwencol". The original and the first TL79O remix of the track were released in early 2011 on the infamous Russian label Shanti. It was actually The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's first official release. The version on the record strips down the remix going even more dub and keeps the ultra-punchy drums in the forefront for some guaranteed head-nodding business.

With each track touching on a different side of underground dance music, this record is a complete guide to the many styles and tastes of The Legendary 1979 Orchestra's compositions. It wouldn't be hard to imagine hearing all four tracks at different times of a perfect club night.

Press Release

Argentinian disco don Thomass Jackson first amazed us with "Maze Me" from his debut EP "Space Is King". In the meantime he's been featured on popular edit lables Editorial and Midnight Riot. His forte is his ability to complement samples with synths and various other instruments that he plays. "The Sound" EP is headlined by the original track "We Love The Sound", a funky disco journey. Two remixes are featured, a classic disco versus deep house monster from The Legendary 1979 Orchestra and a nu-disco synth driven banger from Disko Selectors. The "Dark Mix" offers a heavier vibe suited for late morning dancefloor duties. "Say It Good" mixes a deep funk elements with disco touches over a fat bassline. Lastly, the sample heavy "One Atmosphere Shot" concludes the EP showcasing Thomass Jackson going deep while reworking some late 70s disco grooves.

Junodownload review

Usually found lurking in the halls of the Heartbeat Revolutions HQ, nu-disco troubadour Thomass Jackson has, this time, teamed up with relatively new imprint Legendary Sound Research for "The Sound". The title track is a chic excursion into a world of tight funk guitar licks, fluid basslines, and Studio 54 strings. Our favourite mix sees Disko Selectors add a killer electro-disco bassline a la Metro Area and a dark mix is also provided for deeper early hours soirees. Extra tracks "Sat It Good" and "One Atmosphere Shot" supply slick disco-house and space-bounce kick respectively.

Junodownload review

Germany-based Romanian producer Borrowed Identity has been picking up plaudits of late for his icy and evocative take on deep house. Following releases on Traveller Records and Stripped & Chewed, the 22 year-old has upped sticks and signed with Legendary Sound Research. As an EP, Je T'aime is full of touchy-feely delights, from the cosmic sweep of the early Simoncino-ish "Connection" and old skool deep house blast of "1989 (Summer of Love)", to the '90s deep garage revivalism of "Je T'Aime". There's also a curious but entertaining fusion of deep house and low-slung disco in the shape of "Living With You".

Legendary Sound Research proudly presents its second installment in its edit series. We bring you more quality reworks for dancefloors everywhere! This time, the release has a pure summer vibe! These tracks are best enjoyed with a fresh cold cocktail either on the beach or by the pool!

We selected Romanian underground dance scene veterans Khidja's "Candid Day For Love" as the opener to the release. It's a feel good dubby take on a disco classic, skillfully chopped, layered and seasoned with effects. Sure shot for bikini wearing girls to get moving at your next festival or pool party! Next up is legendary edit master Alkalino with "Give Me Your Love", showcasing disco-funk groove at its finest. Another guaranteed winner for the poolside dancefloor! After his mind blowing debut on our previous release, LSR hot find Andrei comes back with another infectious disco groove. "Let's Go Raw" is irresistible in its demand to make people move! Next up, is edit maestro extraordinaire Rayko. "Wait (Sunny Delight)" is, well, a sunny delightful dubby track characteristic of Rayko's roots in the Canary Islands! It's all about a day (or more) on the beach! Also present on our first edits volume, Richmed returns with some more heavy grooves. He does his thing of combining the hardest funk groove with a disco rhythm and lush strings on "Do Your Thang". This will get the dancefloor even hotter on a summer night! Scotsman 78 Edits might have some dubious weather during summer in Edinburgh but he manages to bless us with a sweet sunny track! "Can't Have My Love" has a subtle groove complimented with soulful vocals. Perfect sounds for an afternoon in the sun! And last but not least, Legendary Sound Research manager, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra closes the compilation once again with an electro boogie stomper. Heavy beats and chops rebuild an 80s classic on "Burning (Oh Baby)". The track has a hypnotic teasing groove made of sizzling vinyl samples that heats things up with sleaze!

We hope you enjoy listening and playing the release as much as we did making it!

Juno Records review

Straight up disco action right here on the first sampler in a new series, which arrives with driving 70s edits from four talented producers. First up, Rayko delivers "Wait (Sunny Delight)", an irresistibly hummable party tune for the summer months; this is followed by "Give Me You Love" by Alkalino, a more funk oriented affair with a charming vocal and a wonderful slice of percussion. 78 Edits do their thing on the B Side with "Can't Have My Love", giving us that classic early 80s sound and finally, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra re-work "Burning (Oh Baby)", taking a more experimental approach that bases itself on the early electro vibe. Big tunes.

Junodownload review

Having impressed with the first collection of re-edits earlier in 2012, the Legendary 1979 Orchestra gather together more floor-friendly reworks from friends and associates on their own Legendary Sound Research imprint. With different tempos, sounds and styles at play, it's a well-rounded collection. Contrast, for example, the tough 80s-electro-goes house vibes of Legendary 1979 Orchestra's "Burning" and the slow, soulful bump of 78 Edits' "Can't Have My Love". Or, for that matter, the breezy party vibes of Andrei's "Let's Go Raw" and the heavy funk of Richmed's "Do Your Thang". There's also some more 80s disco tweakery from Spanish edit workhorse Rayko.

Junodownload review

The mysterious (to us, for now) Legendary 1979 Orchestra launches the Legendary Sound Research imprint with three variations on the shimmering house jam "Close Your Eyes". The Legendary drums version opens the release, with crisp, rolling percussion busy in the mix but never overbearing - a hugely pleasant listen and primed for warm-up sets. Up next, the No Drums Just Soul mix strips back the percussion (obviously) with the piano loops and the chopped vocal given room to breathe. Finally, the dub mix - our pick of the bunch - gets nice and deep with those kicks ever so slightly beefed up. An accomplished release for both artist and label.
